Magazine Assignment Evaluation Before I began to create my magazine I put plenty of research into it; this varied from looking at other magazines and taking inspiration from them, also I began looking at the layout and designs for magazines in that genre so I could get a general scheme for my own magazine. Some of the magazines I exampled included: Total film magazine, Empire magazine and more. These magazines are some of the best in that genre; so taking inspiration from them is a good choice as they are highly rated by the public. When I began the production of my magazine I created a pitch which is also present on the blog; the pitch included: magazine names, typography, fonts, and more. I would also state that I would follow the codes and conventions of a typical magazine in that genre. Unit 14 Task 1 Digital and print magazines both have their pros and cons; digital magazines have a wider range as most people have access to the internet in the present day, however for the people that still don’t have access to the internet will not be able be able to use the online magazine. Print magazines are more memorable when reading as they are more interactive for the reader; however, when finished reading they will most likely forget about the magazine and not read it again. One of the most if not most popular film magazines is Empire. They appeal to most fans as the magazines feature a lot of film content including; movie reviews, star interviews and upcoming movies. Feedback for my magazine pitch An anonymous critic stated that my flatplab was very clear, and they could see the magazine layout perfectly.. I agree with this statement as I tried my best to completely make an image in the reviewers mind of my layout for the magazine. Another critic talked about my flat plan saying it was “very effective”. They also stated I had a good colour scheme and a lot of detail; however they said I need to look more into what fonts I am going to use and lacks idea for content that will be feautured in the magazine. One critic stated that my pitch makes a “clear point on the genre of the magazine along with a well set flat plan.” The only flaw they brought up was that it was very plain; however I will be adding more and more to my pitch. For the final review, the critic stated that I had a clear flat plan for the front cover but need to do the same for the double page spread, they also stated that my point was very clear but needed more into it...

This is what I have created through Adobe Photoshop following a similar layout to the previous magazine that I've shown in the blog before. I decided to make a double page spread for a sequel too the movie Need for Speed.

I followed a similar layout for this project and diverted away from the sci-fi genre. apologies for the low quality.
