EVALUATION
For my task I had to create three media campaigns; the three media campaigns had to promote a chosen: Video game, TV/film, album or a product in the community. For my choice I decided on promoting the upcoming game Red Dead Redemption 2 by Rockstar Games. It is an upcoming Western-themed action-adventure video game developed and published by Rockstar Games. It is scheduled to be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018, the reason I chose this is because I enjoy the game series and thought it would keep my interest within the project.
For my first product I created a social media page on Twitter, the reason I chose Twitter is because I believe that it is one of the most popular social media platforms across the world; I backed this up by creating a survey to see what social media common folk use, the research showed that over 50% of the survey used Twitter and the other half were divided into different parts of social media. The Twitter page was easy to set up and also simple for users to follow on their devices that feature Twitter.
For my second media product I created a billboard for my Rockstar games media campaign; to create the billboard I used Adobe Photoshop, I chose Photoshop as I have good experience with this software; having the knowledge and understanding of Photoshop I was able to create my product within less than ten minutes. The reason I chose to do a billboard is because before I began creating my second product; I decided to diverse into research of what was a successful type of print media, creating a poster was an option but I believe that a billboard creates more talk around the community as it’s on a mass scale for everyone to see. The color scheme of the billboard I’ve kept very basic, I chose sandy colors like peach and cream which can relate to the desert; also linking to the western theme of the game. Secondly, I decided to put silhouettes of cowboys in the foreground of the poster. I wanted to keep the character’s identities a mystery to keep the audience intrigued; this would also help build up the hype for the game. Finally, I put in the famous logo of the game so that it was easily identifiable for passersby who hadn’t heard of this video game before. The survey image can also back up that many people have heard of Rockstar Games and what they are involved in.
Finally, for my final product I decided to create a YouTube channel, this channel would be dedicated to uploading trailers or the game including: Gameplay trailers, Story trailers, Character trailers and Online multiplayer trailers. The reason I decided to create a second social media platform such as a YouTube channel is because it features a wide range of the target audience that I was hoping to reach with my media platforms; such being gamers, gaming is a huge craze on YouTube as the content users enjoy watching the content creators playing their favorite games. Other content would be uploaded to this channel as well such as actual gameplay for Red Dead Redemption 2 after the games release.
Hopefully, by the time the video game has released; my media campaigns will have helped build more hype for the game and have the target audience eager to play the new addition. I believe that the YouTube channel will be the most successful as it features the most of my target audience and also a wide audience that I could help persuade towards the game.
My planned scheduled release will be 2 months before the actual release confirmed by Rockstar which is in September, I plan to release on July 1st which will include my poster and billboard by the time the game has come outAudience feedback was exceptional, i asked a group of 5 people what they thought of my campaign. The first question i asked is if the group had ever heard of Rockstar Games; the result was outstanding with a whopping 4 out of 5 people knowing what they are involved in. My second question was to see if the group use Rockstar Games products, the answer was 3 out of 5. My final question was after seeing my campaign that the group would be interested in going out and buying Rockstars new game; the response was 5 out of 5.
